I was quite happy with how the test with making the poster look 'vintage' turned out. After adding the overlays and creases I think it brings the image to life as a poster, saying that, doing this test made me realise I wanted to change the image some still. I wanted to play around with the title and possibly add more candles to make the bottom of the page a little more busy.

I wanted to see how the poster would look with the other favourite font, I tried it out and with a couple different colours and ended up preferring my first chosen font.

I also moved the candles around and added a couple extra to make the bottom of the poster a little more heavy.
(it helped making the linework a little less chunky too) |
I first started out looking at spongebobs hat, I decided to copy a clear image and trace it as I found this to be the best way to learn. My very first attempt (to the left) I only used the curved line tool I wasn't too happy with how this turned out so I tried again with using shapes. I find making the basic shapes then editing them after very useful.
As A first attempt I was rather pleased. |
Here, as you can see the image looks pretty much like it was copied and pasted straight from the cartoon. I don't want this. I want the pins to look like my own. Although I am pleased that ive managed to get it so close to the original, I feel I need to add personal touch to these designs. I don't want them to look like copies.
Rather than just making imagery that comes to my head I think I am gonna sketch up some more thought out designs. |
