I love the use of watercolour wash and loose lines in this artists work. Even though his work is so lovely I noticed he didn't have that large of a following so I decided to comment on his latest post in the hopes he would respond, he did!
What I gathered from his two comments was to not spend too long on the sketch, or the drawing all together that is. And to look for simple and interesting buildings and streets to start out with. |
This drawing was an unfortunate one as I decided to start drawing the neighbours house a little too late, it got darker as I drew so along did the drawing! as the sun was setting and the shadows got darker so did my inking. Eventually the street lamp in front of the window turned on, it looked distorted through my bedroom window so I wanted to capture that. I used a white pen to add light over the dark and I love the abstract feel of it, not sure it fits into urban sketching as nicely as id have liked but I still enjoy the drawing itself.
The two drawings below were my second attempt at drawing in the wild, The first unfortunately didn't go as well as Id have liked so I moved location to the park, I tried using the advice and simplified my view.. I much prefer how this looks. I would've added more detail if I could have sat longer on location that day. |
