Henry Lamb Henry Lamb was born in Australia 1883 but was moved and raised in Manchester. Lamb first studied mathematics before moving onto studying medicine. This was short lived however as he abandoned his studies to become an artist. At age 22 he moved to London to study at the Chelsea Art School. Within years after this he moved to Paris, he travelled to Brittany for a few summers also, studying with oil paints mostly. When World war one began Lamb returned to medicine to serve in Paris, this ended up awarding him the military cross. While working, Lamb was an un official war artist. He took sketches of what he was seeing which eventually led to him making large oil paintings of the sketches. These are still in a gallery today.

unfortunately I used the wrong medium to copy this piece so I struggled greatly, all things considered though I feel it could have been worse.
Sweeney Todd.
For this project I had to create 40 thumbnails for a poster of Sweeney Todd and then 3 final proposals to a supposed client. I enjoyed this brief as it pushed me to not think so hard and let ideas come to me naturally. To start out this brief and warmup I did a task where I had 24 boxes on an A4 page and in 25 minutes I had to draw as many different chair designs as I could.
I watched the film adaptation to help generate ideas
My three final proposals.
The moons a Harsh Mistress.
For this brief I had to pick a song from a list of six then create my own visual response to it in the form of a digital book. This book could be portrayed in any way I wanted it to and so I wanted to create some kind of abstract story telling.
My personal response to this song is a story about a man who is in love with a woman who wont requite his love. This is because she has been hurt in the past and no longer trusts. Personally to make this more visually pleasing, And be more enjoyable to draw I decided to take the moon and make her the woman. After all the moon is a harsh mistress. I thought the story of a sombre moon in the night sky ignoring a mans efforts to please her fit this song very nicely.
I decided to take inspiration from how the moon is portrayed in tarot cards for this book.
Here are the unedited scans. I am very happy that I decided to go ahead with a traditional response, the different textures work together to give the piece a very peaceful atmosphere, like the song.
This is how the pages turned out after I had edited them, I added the lyrics onto each page in the intended areas. I am pleased with how this project turned out although I would have liked for the final book to look a little more polished. I believe that with more confidence in the materials I'm using, and better time management on my half, projects like this will look much more professional in the future. For now though I am proud of my work.
